Melvin McDonald of French Valley served in the United States Marine Corps from 1988 until 1992, and also served in the Military Police. Melvin McDonald was highly decorated for his service, receiving the Kuwaiti Liberation Medal and the Combat Action Ribbon. He returned home a disabled veteran. Despite being disabled, Melvin McDonald of French Valley is still proud to have served his country. Melvin McDonald of French Valley learned the importance of teamwork, dedication and commitment during his time in the United States Armed Services. He does not let his disability hold him back, and he continues to serve his country and community as a coach, learning no situation can hold you back from becoming a full person.
One way he has committed himself to troubled youths is through Melvin McDonald of French Valley’s part-ownership of Future Starz Magazine. Future Starz features youth sports’ standouts and events and helps to promote involvement in and the benefits of youth sports.
Just like Melvin McDonald of French Valley refuses to be held back by his disability, he seeks to uplift these kids from broken homes, and help them learn essential skills Melvin McDonald of French Valley has taken kids from broken homes and enrolled them in school. Through his efforts he has helped many kids to graduate high school, turning kids who may have a 1.1 GPA to having a 3.8 GPA, giving them the ability to not just graduate, but go on to college, an otherwise seemingly impossible task without Melvin McDonald of French Valley's help.

Through American All-Star Basketball, Melvin McDonald of French Valley coaches kids into learning important life skills. By giving each kid equal time on the court they learn a great deal of confidence. The kids, by being on a team, also learn dedication to themselves and their teammates.
